This course is designed for the novice who has not had the benefit of formal training. The focus is more on learning the “how to” of fitness rather than just the “why”. This course will cover:

  • Methods for evaluating and improving health and fitness
  • Information based on the latest research
  • Helpful hints on how to change health related behaviors
  • Injury prevention
  • Programming strategies
  • Tips for dealing with special personal conditions and environmental problems
  • Sample programs and much, much more.

If you want to know how your body works under the stresses of ALL TYPES of exercise, this is the course for you! The Introduction to Personal Trainer is a nice preparatory course for the more in depth certification courses. The 24-hour course has 12 hours of lecture and 12 hours of practical lab. Those completing the entire course will get certificate of completion only. A soft back textbook is required and must be purchased at the college bookstore or you can call 888-330-9487.

 

The Introduction to Personal Trainer Points:

  1. 4 Weeks, 6 hours a week
  2. 3 hours - practical lab for skill competency
  3. 3 hours - lecture on exercise theory
  4. Certificate of completion only for attending all 4 weeks

SLO's - At the conclusion of the workshop

  • The student will be able to list the reasons for individual assessment testing.
  • The students will be able to show one exercise for each major muscle group.
  • The student can demonstrate a safe stretch for each area of the body.
  • The student can list the improvements the body will go through with regular exercise
