In 1982 the
industry opened itself to qualifying professionals with certifications.
Any and all types of certifying methods had to be better than none,
and this was true! Now at the turn of the millennium, the "traditional"
problematic home study and or one day certifications are still
the center piece for acknowledging an aerobic and or personal trainer
as a qualified professional. Why? In an ever changing world of technology
and health research advancements, why not improve this too. So started
the national certification program from our parent company , S.F.&
Wellness, Inc.
As a former health club manager and
club owner for 13 years, I got tired of interviewing and auditioning
people who were "nationally or internationally" certified but
could not execute any practical skill competency. It frustrated
me to have to assign my Aerobic or Personal Trainer Director with
"certified people" to train them, in what they are suppose to be
certified. At that time, most health club management teams had no
option but to continue with the status quo. In 1989 our beginning
as a regional certification in Virginia was so popular, that in
1995 at the International World Fitness Convention held in
San Diego, the World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.) were
launched!
Industry and individual reviews of
the training courses and certifications have been overwhelmingly
positive. If you want a real learning
experience and time to develop your skills, then W.I.T.S.
is here to teach you the fundamental building blocks for success.
Our courses are held in many schools districts, clubs and colleges
across the country. Such access and approval of our programs, by
our fellow educators, is truly an honor. W.I.T.S. is the #1 choice
of colleges nationwide.
As a student you will get adequate
time to digest a lot of serious information , while more importantly
practicing and mastering practical skills. Our mission
statement says it all;
Providing conveniently located,
quality training and testing world wide in a digestible retainable
framework, relevant to basic educational standards. A functional
employable graduate will emerge, to successfully work with individuals
that have no apparent physical limitations or special medical
needs.
