Faculty Overview for Employment

W.I.T.S. is a national certifying organization that trains people to become Personal Fitness Trainers, Group Exercise Instructors, Youth Fitness, Senior Fitness Instructors, and Aqua Fitness Instructors. We are nationally recognized as a primary certification course. This certification allows our new trainers to train healthy adults through a fitness program. We assume our students have no previous knowledge in health and fitness and we build their knowledge from the ground up. We recently added a lead in course for the novice that is 4 weeks. The Fitness Leader course is for consumers or students wanting to tackle the more comprehensive 6-week certification.

The course for Personal Trainers, Group Exercise and Aqua Fitness is 6 weeks long. The first 5 weeks is the training period. There are 15 hours of lecture material with the text (ACSM HFI manuals for personal trainer, ACE for group exercise and AEA for aqua) and 15 hours of practical "hands-on" training. Here the instructor demonstrates skills, equipment usage, assessment tests, and how to develop programs for specific client needs. This "hands-on" training is what separates us from the other certification courses out there. On the 6th week, the students will take a multiple-choice test and an approximate 30-minute practical exam.

We hold courses throughout the country and throughout the year. To be qualified to teach the lectures, we are looking for individuals with a degree directly related in the health and fitness field and to be qualified to teach the practical we are looking for a health related degree, such as an Athletic Trainer; Certified and/or a, 3 years minimum certified personal trainer or group exercise instructor with at least 3 years experience. The position starts out at $25-35/HR based on your education and experience. We try to have at least 6-8 instructors per area so that you can teach our course at your availability. Committing to a date does not commit you to teach the course in its entirety. We can split dates or times up working with other instructors in the area. Of course if you can teach the entire course that is great too!

Once we complete your references we will fax/email/mail your work for hire agreement. Once we get that back we will mail out a new instructor package including the text, lesson planner, overheads, and a set of video tapes (for your eyes only) for you. The videotapes are of the lectures and practical sessions of a live class being taught for you to view. We take care of the marketing and advertising for the courses and you would just need to show up to instruct. We also send you all the materials needed to give to the students for the course and testing. The tests are graded at the main office.
