An overview of balance, including the involvement of the visual, proprioceptive, and vestibular systems, and how to improve balance among multiple populations, including athletes and aging clients.
Learning Objectives:
1. Define balance and explicate the various systems that govern it.
2. Design and implement balance exercise programming for clients of varying abilities.
3. Incorporate balance training through traditional resistance training programs.
Presenter: Joe Giandonato, MBA, MS, CSCS serves as an employee well-being coordinator at the University of Virginia. Additionally, he maintains adjunct faculty appointments at a number of colleges as he completes a PhD in Exercise Science. Joe has been a WITS faculty member since 2010.
