Do you struggle with identifying muscle imbalances in the body or lack the tools to correct them? Join us for a four-day mini-course covering all components of Corrective Exercise with science based solutions. **A special series by The Program Design Club**
Topics include:
• Background and science
• Understanding, selecting, and implementing simple assessments
• An easy-to-follow system to quickly identify weaknesses and choose the best exercises for each client (including Special Populations modifications)
• Corrective exercise demos and discussion
• Case studies - from assessments through program design and re-testing
• A Master Assessment list, with notes on: test selection, results, interpretation, and programming
Day-by-Day Breakdown:
Day 1 - science and background on identifying muscle imbalances, their causes and consequences, proper vs. improper movement patterns at every joint, science-based solutions through a corrective exercise system that works with all clients (1: stretch, 2: strengthen, 3: integrate, 4: maintain)
Day 2 - assessment options (static, dynamic, rotational, movement screens, gait analysis), list of assessments with step-by-step instructions, more detailed study of proper joint movement at hips/knees/ankles/feet (*including video analysis on example clients), overactive/underactive muscle "cheat sheet" (*with tips for application, including modifications with special populations), streamlining the info to understand general patterns and solutions, client analysis (from assessment to results interpretation to programming)
Day 3 - detailed study of corrective exercises with demo covering form tips/technique/modifications/progressions/program design (*including cues and common flaws), exercises covered include: SMR/spinal lengthening/PNF stretching/strengthening and integration
Day 4 - putting it all together with case studies (general pop, older adults, athletes, occupational issues), including a "master" case study with six months of programming including initial and follow-up assessment results, program design variables, focus on precautions and modifications for special populations, plus tips on dealing with limitations/restrictions/creative alternatives, advice on how to pitch corrective exercise to varying demographics and how to start implementing corrective exercise with your clients!
This course is designed for both Corrective Exercise Specialists and those who have limited experience but strive to provide more complete programs for their clients.
